  • What to Expect

  • What should my child wear?

Stretchy pants, dance tights, skirt with tights underneath, shorts etc. are all acceptable to wear on the bottom half. Just be sure that they are appropriate to dance/move in.

We do stress the importance of proper footwear and recommend children wear gym shoes.

*If the student/students’ parents require their child to wear a head dress etc. for religious reasons we at The Wright Theatre School believe it is their right to do so.

Three hours is a long time, is there a lunch break?

There will be a snack break of 15 minutes which is held between the second and third class. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a healthy snack, but no peanuts please! There is a fridge if you require it.

What if I am running late to pick up my child?

A simple phone call or text to the Managing Director to let them know you’re running late is sufficient for most minor situations. Though we do our best, and would not leave a child behind, we cannot be legally responsible for for minors beyond the agreed time frame. Extended or repeated situations may incur a penalty.

What if my child is sick?

Send us an email as soon as you are aware your child will be missing class, and we hope they get better quick!

Can I stay and watch a class?

Parents can stay for five minutes or so if the child is feeling nervous. Beyond that, during class hours, parents of students may leave or wait in the designated area for their child to finish class unless otherwise specified so as not to disrupt the students learning process.

What if my child loses or leaves something behind?

At the end of each class block, the Managing Director will do a sweep of the congregation area. Any lost or found items will be collected and brought along the following week, although it is best to email ahead if you think something was left behind.

    What if something is stolen?

The Wright Theatre School, Coaches and Directors will not be responsible for any personal loss, damage and/or theft of property during or after the time attending the school. It is for this reason we discourage bringing items of value to class.

End of Term Performance – Will my child need costumes or props?

We at The Wright Theatre School aim to make classes as affordable and hassle free as possible. At the end of each term students will showcase work from their dance, acting and singing class; with little time in between for costume changes. Props will be kept to a minimum and Students may add accessories if they wish or to make a character unique – however, this is not a requirement.

    Students and Parents

As our mission statement states, “The Wright Theatre School aims to be a safe space for students and parents, regardless of age, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.”
Love and acceptance are part of our core values. It goes without saying, that this safe space is also extended to our Coaches. The Wright Theatre School will not accept any racist, homophobic, disruptive or abusive behaviour and as such we expect our students to do the same. In intentional or malicious violation of this rule we hold the right to forfeit said person’s classes without refund. If a parent has any concerns or complaints regarding one of our coaches, please email or talk to the Managing Director before approaching our instructors.

Classes will always start at the designated time so being punctual is important. If a student is late they may miss important information or warming up, which is important to avoid physical injury.

Regular attendance is very important for the morale of the class and the child. Each week students will be learning and rehearsing to put together a showcase for the final class. Too many missed classes may cause a child to fall behind and lose confidence. That being said, if a child is very unwell, it is best not to push them into physical activities.

The Wright Theatre School values positive reinforcement above all else. However class time is limited and should a student be repeatedly disruptive they may be asked to sit out of a game, if after that the bad behaviour continues, a five minute Time-Out with the Managing Director may be enforced and parents notified when they come to be collected.

Students are to show respect to teachers and other students.

    Drop Off/Pickup

Students will wait in the designated area by the Managing Director to be collected, however The Wright Theatre School cannot be held responsible for minors beyond the agreed time frame. If a student needs to be collected early, please make sure to tell the Managing Director.
